”One of the dubstep scene's unsung heroes, Commodo teams up with jazz innovator Alfa Mist on Deep Harbour, a collaboration that bridges their two worlds, coming out on Black Acre and marking an amazing 100 releases on the label. The record explores different yet distinct creative directions: a melodic reimagining of late-2000s dubstep shaped heavily by electric piano, and a darker, more abstract interpretation of jazz-influenced half-step. The EP also includes two reimaginings from Anz; her ‘Safe Place Mix’ offering a more subtle, reflective take, while the ‘Defensive Mix’ delivers a rougher, club-focused approach. “I’ve admired Alfa Mist’s work for some time and wanted to explore a couple of avenues using keyboards,” says Commodo. “One was a more melodic expansion on the late-2000s dubstep sound, the other was a much darker, dissonant take on a jazz-flavoured half-step.” On the remixes, he adds: “Anz is a real producer’s producer with a broad range, and felt like the perfect remixer for this project.””

The partnership of Forest Drive West and Voytek has so far yielded sharply-focused releases for Delsin's Mantis series and Vargmal, finding the synergy between lean, intricate drum & bass and heads-down, experimental techno. On 'Barossa Dub', the pair pitch down to a half-time, dancehall-angled groove to propel a heavily-dubbed soundscape and system-ready bass. ”Ruff Kutz presents 'Found Sound', a debut solo album by Pugilist. At a time where art has become readily reproduced and seemingly disposable, I have made something longer-form to be enjoyed as a complete piece, rather than it's single elements. Found Sound delves into my internal monologue, which I hope results in a personal and introspective listening experience. Building on my previous discography - you can expect versatile sounds and tempos, with a washy dub-wise feel, intoxicating atmospherics, all in a genre-free structure. The album is floaty, euphoric and perhaps a surprisingly light listen compared to my normal output, but with notably huge bass and intricate percussion throughout. The album taps into nostalgic reference points without leaning on retrograde tropes. While sculpted by contemporary production and FX, the sound remains raw and not overly polished. The album is best described as a collage of sounds that I have steadily collected over the last decade, which have inspired me, some very cheeky sampling and many a late night working on my studio tan.
