”Deep-diving in their trademark abyssal lows, ethereal fuzz and hypnotic percussion, Atsushi Izumi and Fatwires combine their crafts, two EPs and some bonus material into this full-length CD edition, including a brand new track (Jamongan) available on physical format only. While last year's „Kisen Kongou“ featured more transparent and beat-oriented material, „Kyūkan“ featured heavier slabs of noise, more elastic pulsations and endless shades of grey, and was also nominated for the German Record Critics Award. Their workflow was sparked by a set of bass guitar soundscapes and bass lines sent by John Eckhardt to Atsushi Izumi spontaneously. Over two years of continuous sharing and co-developing beats and drones, ideas unfolded into a vast, twilit territory of organic industrialism in the orbit between Osaka and Hamburg (with more live bass playing infiltrated at different stages). Simultaneously futuristic and archaic, and strangely resting in its hypnotic forward momentum, the music balances primal rawness with a love for sonic detail. Like a self-organizing swarm of particles transmitted from a distant past or future into a worn-out, Buson-like tableau, eerie landscapes emerge that are populated by moving, ghostly shapes and bursts of colour.”
