”Italian white label imprint Outlaw returns this February with a new VA featuring Dot & Matthew Oh, Nicolas Barnes, Modernism and Ian Oskadev. Since 2015 the hand stamped white label imprint out of the Umbria region of Italy has been offering up raw, reduced and refined material leaning towards dub influence house and techno with Matthew Oh at the helms. Here the story continues with a new various artists package, label boss Matthew Oh joins forces with Dot for ‘Horizon’, a seven and half minute excursion through bouncy bass stabs, expansive textural elements and crisp drums. Rawax, Vuo and Greyscale artist Nicolas Barnes steps up next with ‘Frames’, bringing a weight low- end groove to the forefront alongside murky dub stabs, shuffled percussion and cinematic pads. Modernism opens the flip-side with ‘Metal Covered’, pairing organic percussion and weight subs with billowing atmospherics and swirling echoes before Ian Oskadev’s ‘Clarity Of Thoughts’ concludes the EP, laying down hypnotic, ever evolving pads with intricately intertwined stab sequences and heavily swung drums.”
